Not understanding the difference between saying someone has the right to do something (under our Constitution) and agreeing that they have that right, and then saying that you won’t comment on the wisdom of using those rights says more about you than you think.
There was not any backtracking.
Oh and you left out part of that quote from Friday….interesting the parts you left out:

I don’t really think that is a flip-flop… he didn’t say on Saturday that he was now against the right to build the mosque. You people are making way too much out of that.
A flip-flop is something on the lines of McCain calling himself a maverick for like a million years and then all of a sudden saying that never claimed to be that. Or when McCain wanted amnesty for illegals and then reversed his stance… or when McCain called for Gitmo being closed and then reversing… or when McCain said gays should openly serve he has now flip flopped. Even Kerry (or Obama for that matter) has nothing on McCain when it comes to flipping.
Well, maybe, but what bothers me more is the fact that this President once again shows that he’s got absolutely no cojones. The man can’t bring up the enough fortitude to be either for it or against it. As usual, and like the little berry balled she-male he is, he’s voting ‘Present’.
Look, Barry, I don’t care which side you come down on, but grow some balls and take a stand.
Of all the things the conservatives have said. This is one I must concede too.
I expected Obama to raise above. I expected SOMEONE in the Government to rise above the Political correct crowd pleasing …. and call out this construction for the unpatriotic insult that it is.
Of course they have a constitutional right to do what they want. Obama did not have to say that. That is like saying 18 y/o’s can drive.
But just because something is legal … it does not always mean it is right under all circumstances.
Just because some states allow children under 16 to drive vehicles, it does not mean, every 14 y/o kid should be let loose on the road.
